The American Vehicle Owners Alliance is a coalition committed to protecting vehicle owners’ rights to access and control the data generated by their vehicles.
Historically, when you purchased a vehicle—whether individually or as part of a fleet—you controlled the data it generated, such as mileage, fuel levels, tire pressure, and vehicle location. However, with the rise of connected vehicles, automakers have begun bypassing owners and claiming ownership of this data, fundamentally undermining property rights.
Our coalition supports legislation that addresses these challenges, ensuring that vehicle owners retain unrestricted access to raw vehicle data, a vital asset for fleet management, safety, and consumer benefits.
