AVOA Asks for Vehicle Data to be included in Surface Transportation Reauthorization

April 30, 2025 – In advance of the 2025 surface transportation reauthorization, the American Vehicle Owners Alliance (AVOA) submitted comments to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit emphasizing the need to address vehicle data privacy and access in any potential legislation.

The following statement can be attributed to Richard Ward, Executive Director for AVOA:

“AVOA appreciates the opportunity to respond to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit’s request for legislative proposals to be considered as part of surface transportation reauthorization. AVOA believes vehicle owners’ access to and control of their vehicle data is fundamental to putting control back in the hands of the owners rather than manufacturers and other third parties. AVOA supports legislation addressing these challenges, ensuring owners retain unrestricted access to raw vehicle data.”
