Friday, May 22, 2026 – Yesterday, the House Committees on Transportation & Infrastructure and Energy & Commerce held simultaneous markups of their respective Title Bills for the Surface Transportation Reauthorization.

“Yesterday’s markup hearings in House Energy & Commerce and Transportation & Infrastructure made clear that Congress understands the stakes on vehicle data access — empowering American drivers, protecting property rights, spurring innovation, and addressing affordability.
“We applaud Representatives Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) and Scott Perry (PA-04) for their thoughtful amendments, and we welcome the broader support for stronger data access and security provisions shown by both committees. We also appreciate Energy & Commerce Chairman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) committing to work on this important bipartisan issue.
